Travelers Eligible For PDRs, But Beware Of Negative Antibody Tests

Travel is the movement of individuals between different geographical areas. Travel can either be single trip or round trip, and usually is done by foot, car, plane, train, bus or boat. While travel may seem impersonal, there is a huge number of networks and organizations that facilitate travel. Examples include airlines, hotels, inns, and rental cars.

Traveling is a serious business for many people, not just because they have to get from place to place but because they must also keep abreast of their physical surroundings. It is not uncommon for travelers to become contaminated, especially in places where sanitation is not always as good as it should be. Travelers who do not practice safe sex are particularly vulnerable to becoming sick from different types of bacteria and parasites, as are those who are overburdened. Some people have to undergo thorough screening before being allowed to travel to certain regions or countries.

When traveling, people do not have to worry about being exposed to different germs and viruses. Anyone can get sick from an insect bite or a simple cut. In order to prevent illness and stay healthy, people who are constantly traveling, especially to areas with poor sanitation need to practice safe sex, abstain from sexual contact with others, and use sanitary products while traveling. Traveling in a developing country may expose you to a number of communicable diseases and illnesses, including HIV and AIDS.

Passports are used mainly for international travel, but there are instances when travelers will need a copy of their passport for local travel, especially if they will be traveling from a foreign country to a familiar one. For example, if you will be traveling from Mexico to the United States, you will likely be required to have a Mexican passport in order to cross the border. Likewise, if you will be traveling from Canada to the United States, you will need a valid United States passport in order to enter the country. Without a valid United States passport, you may end up with an improperly entered fee, fines, or even jail time.

Another reason why it is important for international travelers to carry proof of a negative antigen test, a PCR, is to avoid being denied boarding at airports or border crossings. Many international travelers unknowingly travel without the proper immunizations, PCR, or certificate. PCRs are the internationally accepted form of immunization against serious diseases that may pose a risk to a traveler’s health, such as malaria and poliomyelitis.

A PCR is issued upon completion of an immunization course that usually takes four to six weeks. A travelers’ PCR expires if they have not traveled to the United States for fourteen days in the past 14 days. If a foreign national fails to provide proof of a negative covid-19 test, it is possible for the traveler to be denied entry into the United States. There are many resources available on the Department of State website and the USDOTP site that can help foreign nationals get a PDR, but it is important that the applicant provides documentary proof of immunization receipt. Individuals who do not intend to visit the United States should still get a PDR because a PDR is considered an immunization record that the government will require of all international travelers visiting the United States.
